Pink Monkey & the Pantry Raider

Skylar and Rhylan have evidently found a new use for the couch in Chris' office - a jungle gym! They climb on the couch and sit in the bay window behind it - aka "the club house" - and they use it as a jumping off point to climb the dividers in the room. I had no idea they were doing this, but was informed by Chris, "Oh, they do that all the time..." Nice. I only found out about it this morning when Rhylan began to scream, "Emergency! Emergency!" from her perch between the decorative rods, where she managed to get wedged. After plucking her from danger she says to me, "Thanks, Mom. Whew! That was a close one!" Thankfully, that hasn't happened to Skylar when Chris isn't around - I am not sure I could retrieve her from an over-head position like that!

Among her many talents, we have maintained for as long as she could climb that Rhylan could be left to her own devices for days without anyone finding her and she would be able to forage for food and survive on what she finds. This is a true statement in that she would eat literally anything that is not in a can as long as she can get to it. Daily, I find her in the pantry or the fridge "foraging" for her next bit of food. Most of the time, she actually finds something with nutritional value. This morning was no different, as she made a visit to the pantry for some cereal. I surprised her by being right behind her with the camera and after I took this shot she said, "Good grief, Mom! You really scared me!" Then, she went on her merry way getting her bowl, her spoon, her milk and putting a breakfast together for herself. All the while, her sister, older by 2 full years, sat in the chair in the den and bellowed about me serving her a meal. Things that make you go "hmmmm".

Let me just start by saying that your girls are so beautiful. Rhylan looks like Rhonda, but I see Chris, Skylar reminds me of Chris, where did the light hair come from? They are both very precious. Thanks for keeping us up to date on your family.
Love you guys,

PS. Jonathan says hi

You are soo sweet! Chris and I both had blondish hair as kids, so maybe that is where that is from... Skylar is the only one in our family with blue eyes, though - Chris, Rhy & I have brown - Rhy's are almost black, they are so dark and THAT is the Amer Indian in her. She was Nanny's favorite (Nanny always said that she knew she wasn't supposed to have favorites, but she just couldn't help it! Out of 11 or so great grandchildren, Rhylan felt her joy bestowed on her the most.).
Tell Jonathan Hey for us, too. Chris and I were looking at the photos of your boys and can't believe how big they all are - I guess that happens to all of them, though!
Take care!
