It is sufficient to say that kids, mine included, have their own ideas and perceptions about life. So, no matter what we do to shape their minds about things, they still manage to come to their own conclusions about others.
"Rock N' Roll" all started when Rhylan was quite young - maybe even an infant. Skylar, Rhylan, Mimi and I would be heading out somewhere - to shop, to lunch, to play, etc. Mimi, in true Mimi form, would exclaim on the way to the car, "Let's Rock N' Roll!" Soon, Skylar was also employing this phrase, and appropriately, at that. The phrase was one of the first that Rhylan put together when she began to talk, so it has become commonplace in our house.
Now, the girls are older and the association with "Rock N' Roll" has morphed a bit. They see advertisements with Avril Levigne and ask, "Is she a Rock N Roll girl?" They see previews to shows where Barbie is a teenager who plays in a band - Rock N Roll girl. So they have different ideas about Rock N Roll at this point and try to assymilate that into their lives. They play dress up and this is what they come up with to match what they define as Rock N Roll.
So, the question they ask now is, "Do I look like a Rock N Roll Girl????" The answer, in case you were wondering, is invariably, "YES!"
