Independence Day - Hangin' with the Homeys

July 4th is not a holiday where we typically find ourselves in Houston. Normally, we are spending some time with the Midwestern Faction of the family, enjoying some home-cooked goodness and some truly awesome neighborhood fireworks displays - no matter what the rainfall has been to date. This year, we had planned to stay home, have our annual bbq and enjoy the day dripping in sweat and the smell of smoked meat. Plans, they do, go awry. So, we did stay home, accomplished little and ate hot dogs - a truly American celebration was had. We topped the evening off with some hand-held sparklers for the girls and called it a night. Maybe it wasn't as exciting as 4th of July at Miller's and maybe we did miss the amazing food we know would be a part of an evening there, but it is what it is and we are blessed regardless.
